This morning when I took Cole to school, he sat down at the little breakfast table in the "cafeteria." As I was telling him bye, the kid next to him (about 4-5 years old) got my attention and while all these nasty pop tart crumbs were flying out of his mouth as he was talking, he said, "HEY, I can beat him up cause I have a jacket that says Hulk and I have big muscles." I'm like, "OH ok well leave my kid alone you FREAK!!!" Well wait, that was INSIDE my head. Outloud I think I said something like, "Well yeah but we don't beat our school friends up..." AND LEAVE MY BABY BOY ALONE!! :) Speaking of babies...
A conversation putting Shelby to bed last night:
S: "Mommy says I'm her baby girl."
Jeff and Me: "Well you are our baby girl! Cole is our baby boy and you're our baby girl."
S: "Yeah but you guys are just pretendin right?"
M: "No way, you're ALWAYS gonna be my baby girl!!"
S: "Well when I get 4 I'm not gonna be a baby anymore....I can be your good BIG girl but I couldn't be your baby girl...How bout that?"
She's always compromising or bargaining for something! Everything's a debate in our house---hmmm, reminds me of someone who was a kid just like that! (Me!)

Saturday with friends
Saturday night we had a gathering of friends, kids, babies and lots of fun!
Shelby and Ashlyn started off in pirate costumes, then moved onto princess dresses, and ended up in their pjs for the remainder of the night. Dressing up is fun!
Shelby, we need to work on your "princess face."

Ryan and Rusty...

This little one year old is a smartie! He says, "DOGGY!" (Pay no attention to the dirty knees, surely my house didn't cause that!) haha

The kids all doing "Ring around the Rosies" aka "Ashes"

Shelby bodyslammed Joey to get him to fall down!

Now let's take a ride on Shelby!

Ashlyn the kitty cat. No children were harmed this night.

Settling in for a movie. Friends!!!

Sunday nap---the kids were exhausted and slept for over 3 hours!

RIP Sadie dog
It all started when the kids and I surprised Nonnie by coming over on Friday after work/school. My mom looked at me as soon as we walked in and mouthed, "I can't find Sadie." She had talked to Dad and he had left her outside in the backyard b/c she didn't want to come in that morning. Her food was eaten and her water bowl was there, but Sadie wasn't in her bed by the door where she always is.
She IS old and mom had been afraid to go look for her (in the pool? or lying somewhere in the yard?) so I went out there and looked around. She wasn't anywhere. So Mom came out and she immediately noticed that the HUGE cottonwood tree from the backyard of the next door neighbors was gone. Part of the fence was broken (but not to where Sadie could have gotten out.) So our theory is that the workers dropped some of the tree into my parents backyard, and when they came over to get it, Sadie slipped out. There was some tree debris in the yard, so that's all we can figure.
So I called the city animal shelter's line of stray dogs found that day...she wasn't there. Dad went driving all around to look for her, no sign of her. We didn't think she would go far b/c she was old and it was COLD outside. We made a sign and put it at the entrance of their addition...we figured a neighbor must have picked her up.
Then last night my mom called the city hotline again and heard, "Female red dachshund, deceased." She was found on a street BEHIND their addition and further away than we would have thought she would go. We don't know what happened. Hunger? Cold? Heart/breathing problems for running her poor old body that far?
We are sad.
Sadie came to live with us around 1996, when she was a baby. She was 13 or so years old when she left us.
All dogs go to Heaven :)
WE LOVE YOU BABY SADE!!!

Drama queen shelbyism
I'm listening to Shelby talk to Jeff as he puts her to bed. I just heard Shelby:
S: "Oh my gosh. This is not good. We forgot. to. feed. the. guinea. pigs!!!"
J: "Were they hungry?"
S: "Yes they were squeakin so loud! I am the pet helper. Ms. Becky and Ms. Michelle and Ms. Debby and everyone says I am the ZOO helper."

Overlooked Shelby
What a blah week it's been! Weather and other-wise! I am so glad it's Friday!!!! (Amens all around?!?!)
Shelby's school just called me. Today was picture day and poor baby, they skipped right over her and didn't take her picture! After the pic people had left, Shelby went up to her teacher and said, "When is it my turn?" Awww, poor little sweetie. She was so good about wearing something cute today and wanted me to fix her hair and she picked out the bow she wanted and everything. I'll have to take lots of pictures of her when we get home today! :)
Next year they'll take Shelbs and Cole's pics together so that will be cool :)

Let's talk about Cole baby!
As we were all here in the living room, Cole just got mad when Jeff tried to move his baseball tee over a little bit, so he yelled, grabbed it and threw it across the room. Jeff said, "Cole are you terrible two?"
Cole responds, "NO MY TERRBLE TWO!!! NO TERRBLE TWO!" as he continues to look for things to kick and throw. We can't help but just laugh at him.
So then he started coloring with Shelby. He was coloring with a white color, and held it out to me and said, "That blanco." I wasn't sure what he was saying (I don't just automatically think in Spanish) so I corrected him, "No that's white." He said, "No that blanco." About a second later I realized he was saying "Blanco" perfectly. Oops!
He will finally attempt to sing his ABCs on his own. He sings, "A B C B A B C's Next time won't you sing with me. Q R S T U V W X Y and Z, A B A B A B C's, Next time won't you sing with me, Q R S...." It's a big never ending circle. :)
He also likes to sing Jesus Loves Me all the time but he screams it at the top of his lungs. Maybe something they do in Chapel at school??? haha
When I try to help him into the car or into the top bunk, he yells, "NO! My climb!!!" I quickly learned it is much faster to just not even try to help him from the beginning because if I do he'll just have to start all over by himself.
One of his most common phrases is "MY DID IT!" He usually says "my" in place of "I" - Shelby never did that. It's cute :)
He's also started saying "Gosh" but he says, "Goss" He knows he's cute and performing when he says, "OH MY GOODNESS!" as he puts both his hands on his cheeks.
Oh and also now when you ask him something his immediate response is "Ummmmmm" before he answers you. I guess it's instead of stuttering. "Cole, how old are you?" "Ummmmmm Two." "Cole do you want a cookie?" "Ummmm Yes." It's becoming a habit but it's pretty cute too!!!

Trying to smile on Tuesday!
Hi out there!
First off, Baby Stellan has been heavily on my mind and in my constant prayers since I heard about his situation yesterday. Will you pray for him too?
Secondly, I have a pretty new blog decoration (thanks to thecutestblogontheblock free backgrounds of course!) so google readers click through and check it out!
Finally, I am making today a new day! Yesterday I was having such a hard time being at work after a long break, getting back on my diet (I was hungry ALL DAY!) and hearing about baby Stellan made me want to just hold my kids all day. Today I am committed to smiling and being productive! I know that a positive outlook will help my mood and help me get lots done at work today. So Happy Tuesday!!

Shelby's prayer
I'm so proud of our sweet girl. She says her own prayers at night and it is so sweet!
Last night:
"God thank you for our house and for the beautiful flowers. And thank you for our friends and our family. And thank you for our dogs, Rusty, Roxxy and Mary, and thank you for our family. You made everything God. Now I lay me down to sleep..." And then we finished with that regular prayer. How sweet is that?! Melts my heart. :)

A few isms
What a fun and fast week we had! A few things I need to write down:
One morning Cole was in a usual grouchy morning mood and for some reason I was laughing at him. He kept screaming, "THAT NOT FUNNY!!! That NOT FUNNY MOMMY!!!"
He's been in a totally Mommy attachment mood lately. His most common phrase this week, "I want my Mommy." Of course I like it. :)
Today we packed up and went to Jeff's baseball game. It was at 1:00 so right during nap time so none of the kids got naps. Shelby skips them every once in a while fine, but Cole gets so sleepy, it's hard for him to skip. He laid down on Nonnie's shoulder for about 10 minutes and was almost asleep, then all of a sudden he sat up all bright eyed and yelled, "Cole no sleepin!!!"
After that, he was right up at the fence while Jeff was about to start another inning (pitching.) He was putting his fingers in the fence right behind home plate so I was trying to move him back and he got so mad at me saying, "No! My watch my Daddy!!! My watch my Daddy pitchin!!"
Later when we got home, Jeff was modeling his "new" baseball pants that are too tight and too short for him. He was acting like Nacho Libre, and said, "Do you like my pants? Do you like my legs?" Shelby laughed and replied, "I like your penis!" Uhhhh.....
(This was probably because of earlier before the game Jeff was running around wearing his cup letting the kids knock/play drum on it. Fun times here!!!)
