Saturday night we had a "family date." We went to dinner and the movies! The movie was The Polar Express at the Omni IMAX dome theater. This theater is awesome and I have some fond memories of going there as a child. Shelby and Cole were both so excited, and surprisingly well behaved as we waited to go into the theater. (There is only 1 theater and they show movies about 10 or 20 minutes after the previous one, so everyone lines up outside the theater until showtime.)
Walking into the theater, it is a little overwhelming. The rows are pretty steep and the white dome overhead isn't something you're used to seeing. Cole was quietly taking it all in, just staring in awe, until a minute after we sat down (he was in his own seat) and he started saying, "Down Mommy. Out. Down Daddy!" We pressed on and within a couple of minutes the intro started, and it's the same one they've always shown, which is AWESOME (my favorite part- it makes you feel like you're in a helicopter flying over Fort Worth and Dallas. Soo cool!!) Shelby loved it, she said, "Mom are we flying???" as she clutched her armrests. Cole, on the other hand, was whimpering a little and kept repeating "TV Off! TV Off!" Jeff kept wanting to get up and take him out, but I was sure that Cole would be fine once that part was over. I put him in my lap and he just faced me and laid his head down on my shoulder. Once the movie started, he stayed where he was but watched the movie out of the corner of his eye, for the whole 2 hours. He didn't make a peep, but just quietly watched the movie. The movie was GREAT on the dome screen. Jeff and I had seen many parts of the movie but had never watched it from start to finish. The sound system at the Omni is amazing as well...it was just a great experience!
We also saw that they're showing Dark Knight there on the dome, now that might be one we will have to go to (and find a babysitter, of course!) :)

I'm kind of in agreeance with Cole. That theater always made me feel dizzy.
