Coleman’s First Basketball Season

Well, we may have found Buddy’s favorite sport.  Coleman is a little baller!

He is playing in an Upward basketball league for kindergartners on a team called the Lions, and Poppy and Uncle Tyty are his coaches!

Coleman shocked me at how good he already is at basketball.  He dribbles (while running down the court), shoots baskets, plays defense, etc.

They have a practice followed by a game each Saturday.

This shot brought back memories of watching TyTy play basketball in high school…he always hooked his hands on his shirt while standing on the court like Coleman is doing.  Coleman spent much of his first year in high school gyms “watching” Tyler’s games.

Here you can see his hidden excitement just before his first game.

The kids are announced and get to run through this tunnel before each game.

Coleman’s first tooth lost

Our little buddy lost his very first tooth last night!

He has been wiggling it a lot since 2 weeks ago when I discovered that his 2 bottom adult teeth are already coming in way behind the babies.  At lunch yesterday he bit into a carrot and it really loosened it.  He was crying at bedtime because it hurt, and he and daddy had already tried tugging it out.

Somehow I convinced him to let me try to “floss it” (somehow---truth, I offered him $2) and I tied dental floss around that bad boy and yanked.  I had never done that before and now I’ve thought about it a million times since and it gives me the heebie jeebies.  Not sure I’ll ever be doing that again.  The look of shock on his face when I jerked it out was so funny.  He did cry for a minute (because there was blood of course) but soon the laughter and pride took over.

Both pictures I took caught him with these bright wide eyes- and I know hole-in-mouth pictures are kind of gross but it’s our blog and it has to be documented!

Right after this picture we dropped the tooth in the living room carpet and have yet to find it.  The tooth fairy left $5 anyway!  And of course Coleman was quick to collect that $2 I promised him first thing this morning, too.

Coleman’s First Field Trip

Coleman’s first elementary school field trip was in October.  The Kindergartners went to Green Meadows Farm and got to feed and pet lots of animals, and even milk a cow.  I did not go along this time, but Cole was in a pair with his buddy Carter and his mom, and Carter’s mom kindly sent me LOTS of pictures!  I am so thankful for all the pictures since I couldn’t be there.
Enjoy!

Fort Worth Parade of Lights 2012

On the Friday after Thanksgiving, we drove home from Powderly and had a few hours to relax at home before deciding to rush around and get to the Fort Worth parade that evening.  Jeff is normally not off on that Friday, so it was great to get to do this with him!  We left the house only about 30 minutes before the parade was to start, but armed with my parking badge and plan to park at my work, which the parade goes right by, we didn’t think it would be a problem.

Well, there was traffic getting into downtown, even though we went the “back way”…and once we were finally close to my work’s garage, we found that the police had the road shut off about half a mile short of the garage’s entrance.  Luckily the officer working the street allowed us through after we explained that we had a parking badge and that I was 8 months pregnant :)  We rushed to park and up to the street, and arrived at the parade just in time.

It was chilly out but we came prepared with coats and blankets.

After taking a picture or 2, Shelby took over the camera and was our little parade photographer for the night.

Coleman was very into the parade, shouting, “MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!” to all the people on the floats as they passed by.

The rest are some of the floats that Sister took pictures of:

As always, Santa’s float was last.  It was a fun little family night!
