Sing yourself to sleep...

Shelby was running around and I told her it was time for bed and she said, "I don't wanna go to bed Mommy, I wanna go to Chick Fil A!!!"
Then once in bed, I heard her belting out "You are my Sunshine" and "Mommy Loves You" which is her song that I made up and have sung to her since she was an infant. So cute.
Daughters are awesome :)

Kissy Kissy

Today when we were leaving Shelby's class, I told her to say "bye" to all her friends. She turned around w/out saying a word and walked over to Linnea (a cutie who seems to be Shelby's favorite friend) and Linnea said "Bye Telby" and Shelby leaned over and kissed her and Linnea kissed back. It was the sweetest thing ever. I think they're best friends!!! In September they're having a family picnic with all the families at the childcare center and I'm so excited to go and meet all the mommies and daddies. After all, our kids are spending *most* of their time together. It's so cool to see her making friends and being such a big girl there.
Tonight I was telling her to eat all her chicken b/c it was good for her and would make her a big strong girl and she said, "I want to be big and strong like you Mommy" and I just melted. Is it normal for your child to give you goosebumps and make you melt numerous times a day? I'm sure it is but I sure love it!!! Today I read about severl friends' experiences with their kids' first day at kindergarten. They all gave me chills b/c I know how time flies and how that moment is just around the corner for us. I know that even though it's 3 years away she'll still be my baby girl going off to school and I will not be ready for her to be so big.
Cole LOVES to hang upside down and is so giggly and lovey. Today Daddy got to spend extra time with him because he was off work so Cole got to sleep in and see Daddy this morning, and then he picked him up around 3:30 and they had an extra hour together at home before us girls got home. I could not have been blessed with a happier baby. I know he is going to be such a sweetie and a mommy's boy. Thank Heaven for little boys!!!

Shelby wants a...

We were in Lowe's yesterday lookin at kitchen faucets. We were discussing them and Jeff says that one that I was considering looked like a "weiner shaft." (He's so crude.) Shelby was in the stroller minding her own business (or so we thought) and then she starts yelling, "I want a weiner shaft Mommy!!! I want a weiner shaft!!"
We were cracking up and hoping that no one heard her. haha

My lovelies

We had the best weekend! Nana and Garland came to help us put the tile on our kitchen countertops. They're finishing up today and it looks great.
My kids were so lovely and happy and smiley all weekend. I had the best time spending all day with them! Shelby is just such a happy girl - she is always smiling and just wakes up happy. She is always saying, "I'm happy, Mommy's happy, Coleman's happy, Daddy's happy, Bobby's happy, We are all happy!" So precious. Coleman is entering a bit of the separation anxiety stage I think. He loves to be held and makes it known if he wants you or wants something. He cries like his heart is broken if you take a toy away from him, whereas before he wouldn't care. He is up on all fours just rocking all the time. He's gonna take off any day now.
I'll write more later!

Ayuda Me

The other night at dinner Shelby kept asking for help. Jeff and I were talking so we didn't immediately respond to her. I was listening to Jeff but also listening to Shelby with my other ear and I had to stop him and do a double take when I heard her say, "Help me. Ayuda me." She said "help me" in Spanish! Since then she's said it a couple other times, mainly when she's frustrated with repeating the "Help me" phrase it seems that she decides to see if someone will help her if she says it in Spanish! I found out from her teacher that she picked it up from an episode of Dora that they watched and then discussed. My little bilingual toddler!

More Shelby hahas

Yesterday Jeff gave me a big hug. I pulled away saying "Ouch! My boobs!" because he hugged too tight. Shelby yelled, "Don't you hurt 'em Daddy! Mommy gotta pump 'em!!!"

Then later, when we were sitting at the table I caught myself leaning the chair back on 2 legs, right about the same time that Shelby caught me. She looked at me and said, "Don't you do that in you chair! You can fall...and hurt!!!" She is definitely just like her mommy- Miss Bossy and In Control.

Please don't take my pancakes

Yesterday while we were preparing Shelby's plate of pancakes (with sprinkles) and eggs, she was sitting in her chair at the table singing "You are my sunshine." Here's what she sang (pay attention to the last line:)
You are my sunshine
my only sunshine
you make me happy when sun is gray
You'll never know Dear how much I love you
Please don't take my pancakes away.

She's really creative! :) hahaha
She's still loving her new school.
Coleman is SUCH a happy baby! I can't get over how laid back and pleasant he is. His smile brightens my day over and over. Today I put some new pictures of him (and some of Shelby too) on their picture website so check it out. Link's on the left of this page.
This morning Shelby woke up but did not come into our room as she usually does. Instead, I heard her yelling through the monitor "Mommy!" The monitor is in Cole's room. Uh oh! She had gone into his room at 6:30, climbed into his crib, and was laying there loving on him. Of course Cole wasn't crying- he's so happy when he wakes up- apparently even when big sis WAKES him up. It was so cute, but not the best for daddy, who should have gotten to sleep in a little late today as long as Coleman slept. Shelby nixed that idea. So instead we had a happy morning where we all got to see each other. I think that was a wonderful change of plans, thanks to Shelby!!! :)

School: Day 2

When I went to pick Shelby up yesterday she and another little girl were writing on an easel with chalk, something I knew she would like (we need to buy her one!) When she FINALLY looked up at me, she just glanced, said, "Hi mommy." and kept on writing. She obviously was having a good time and in no hurry to leave. That makes me happy that she's already enjoying it and fitting in!
This morning was another great morning. I love seeing my babies in the morning. When we walked into her classroom, she agreed to go wash her hands with me (a rule of the classroom.) She washed them and dried them and then walked back into the room, where her teacher Miss Yolanda and one other kid were. She went up to Miss Yolanda and said, "Where are all my friends???" Miss Yolanda looked so surprised, she said, "Wow, we usually don't hear that till later in the year!" Shelby is Miss Social and is already thinking of all her classmates as her friends. :) haha

Shelby's new school

Shelby started at the TCC Child Development center today. She has been looking forward to it all weekend. When we went to the store yesterday, she said, "Mommy is this my new school? I want to go to school!" She's been talking about how she's going to "Play with my friends" and she was very excited to wear her new shoes that we bought her yesterday. I had to wake her up this morning, we're gonna have to be leaving a little earlier than she's used to. She didn't want to wake up, until I said, "We have to get ready so you can go to school this morning" and she just popped up smiling and happily got dressed and let me fix her hair, and then she said, "Let's go show daddy." We always show daddy how pretty we look when we get ready. :) She ate a banana and just a little bit of a bagel with peanut butter and sprinkles. She's not really into eating soon after she wakes up. They get a morning snack at school so I don't think she'll starve. heehee.
When we pulled up to my work, she said, "This is MY school Mommy!" and I told her yes it was. She said hi to Poppy and then wanted to get. She didn't want to hang out in mommy's office, she walked out saying, "Let's go to my school Mommy!" So off we went. She stopped to pick some flowers but was a big girl and walked all the way across campus with me.
She walked right in and I showed her her locker and we put her blankie and pillow in it. She went into her classroom and immediately started exploring and playing. She kissed me goodbye and didn't mind at all that I was leaving. Her new classroom is so big and lots of different areas with fun things to do. She's going to have a BLAST.
Here she is on the way into the school:

Our baby girl is growing up! We love her to death!

Shelbyisms

I just wanted to write down some of the things Shelby's been saying that crack us up.

This morning she woke up and immediately said, "Where's Bobby?" When she found him she hugged him and giggled and said, "Bobby makes me happy!"

Last night Jeff said, "Come here sweet pea" and Shelby replied, "I'm not a sweet pea, I'm a monkey!"

Brother's first TWO teeth!

Coleman got 2 teeth yesterday! His 2 bottom middle ones. We felt the first one yesterday evening while we were eating a Joe T Garcia's. Then, later at home I was feeling it again and I felt another one right next to it. I think I might have made that 2nd one pop through. Cole's been feeling some pain in the past couple of days- he's developed a new scream that is particularly loud and shrieky. Hopefully now he'll feel better. 2 down, 20-something to go!!!

Shelby's makin milk.
