Last week Shelby got to spend a few hours at work with me.  It made my day!
I set her up in her own little cube.

You have to notice my girl and her STUFF.
She has her shoes set up on the keyboard tray.  She has her chocolate milk and her trophy close by.  She put the pink papers I gave her in one of those paper trays and came to get more paper clips from me to fill up her little container.  Oh- and the bear is sitting watching her, of course.

What a fun time it was!

The “Graduation” Day

Baby Girl,

Tuesday wound up to be an emotional day for your mommy!  Maybe it was because I wasn’t prepared for it- I knew this was family fun day but I wasn’t ready for the sweet ceremony your teachers put on for you graduating Stepping Stones. 

First we had a hot dog lunch, in which you kids all lined up and served yourselves, and then you went and sat on a picnic blanket with all your girls to eat together.  Linnea, Madalyn, Jaylee, Ryan, and Natalia are some of your best friends.  Then, I watched you sit in a row with all your friends in front of all your proud parents.

This year you were in Ms. Pat’s small group and you love her so much.

We have prayed every night to thank God for the wonderful school and teachers you have had this year.

You have blossomed into such a big girl.

Starting out the year you ran into a couple of issues with being too bossy and trying to make everyone follow the rules like you do.  Since then, you have learned to take care of Shelby and make sure Shelby is following the rules and to just do YOUR best.  Since then you have become a better friend to all your classmates and you really play well with them. Your teachers tell me you will be getting a stipend check in the mail from the school for all the help you have given them in class!  :)  My little take-charge helper makes me very proud.

You have taken an interest in writing and you can spell so many words.  Your memory amazes me.  Yesterday I asked you if you wanted me to help you spell Poppy and you said, “Mom, it’s P-O-P-P-Y, I already know!”  I said, “Wow I didn’t know you knew that one” and you said “Susan told me!”  Then I remembered Susan telling you how to spell it once a couple of weeks ago- and you just remember. 

You write every letter so well and you still LOVE to draw.  You draw hearts and rainbows and sunshines and flowers.  You draw peace signs and houses and lots of ‘Mommy and Daddy's going on walks with you. You love the outdoors and your drawings prove it.

In your class this year when you arrived at school every day, you would get your spiral and your markers and crayons and write/draw in your journal.  You filled up THREE spiral notebooks this year and they are something that I will treasure forever!  Your drawings remind me of what we were doing at that time in the year.  You drew Christmas trees on the day after we put ours up.  You drew camping after we went camping.  Such great memories in those books!

I do have to say that right now your most-used phrase is still “I KNOW BUT…” and somehow you still think you can convince me to change my mind after I have given you an answer that you don’t like :)  However, I am quite certain that won’t change for a long time because you ARE my daughter!

Shelby we are so proud of you and of the girl that you are becoming.  I love your independence and I love your heart and how much it LOVES your family.

Family Fun Day

On Tuesday the kids’ school had their annual Family Fun Day to end the year.

Shelby got all ready, and walked in with Roxxy on her matching leash.  The socks up thing is all her own insistence, haha.

 

 

We got to school and they had that place rockin’ with activities.

This is Coleman with one of his 2 awesome teachers, Ms. Yolanda, aka “Miss Yonda”

First Shelby was magnetized towards the papers and drawing, naturally.

Next she made a foam bookmark.

Meanwhile, Coleman of course found the messiest thing- the sprinkler!!

Here’s he’s saying “Why am I all wet?!”

The shirt came off and he found somewhere to get his hands dirty, BUBBLES!!!

Shelby found the butterfly table and made one for Mommy and Daddy.

Next she did some marble painting.

Coleman threw some colored water balls at a sheet to help “paint” it.

Shelby decorated a cookie. And ate it.

Coleman and Daddy found a big ball.

My boy cracks me up!

And just look how happy he was!

They had a bunch of ice blocks to play with.

 

(I’m pretty sure Coleman ate some of them.)

Shelby was at another art station- making a wind plate thingy.  This little girl next to her who is a year younger is very close to a spitting image of Shelby last year!  Everyone has commented on it :)  Her name is Betty- how cute is that?!

Next up were the annual Tug-o-War games!

Finally we did the sack races.  Notice Shelby girl did not take that purse off her shoulder the entire morning.

What a great fun morning it was. 

The things these teachers can put together are amazing!  Anyone who knows me knows I cannot find enough great things to say about this school!  Especially the teachers and staff, but on top of that, the little family that we are.  Those of you that have considered it (and you know who you are!!!)  I’m sorry to say but you are missing out!  And if you are in the area and need somewhere to nurture your children that is NOT a “daycare” then you should check it out (if they have openings!)  This place is immeasurable and so unique.  (oh and are having part-time (mwf/tth) children now)

Rylee’s Safari Birthday

On Saturday before OUR party we went to Miss Rylee’s 4th birthday party.  It was at the new “Indoor Safari Park” in Southlake.

And there were these ride-on animals.  They were basically mechanical things on skates and they walked around a little circle.

In typical Shelby fashion, she asked the worker if she could NOT walk with her.  Haha!
