Molly January 2016

First off, we are now out of the crib!  Molly got her new "fancy floor" at the first of the year and with the furniture move, we turned the crib into a toddler bed.

Molly had her 3 year checkup and the doctor said she is "the picture of health."  She is off the charts with her height.  She measured at 41.25 inches, which is a 5 inch growth in the past year.  The top of the growth chart shows that 95% of 3 yr old girls are under 39.75 inches, so she is an inch an a half over the top of the growth chart!  Pretty crazy (thanks, Daddy.)  Her weight is at 75%.

Email from Molly's teacher 1/26/16:

You probably weren’t out the door when this happened.  When you left the classroom, I turned to see the girls in the block area. Molly had a tissue wiping Paige’s nose.  She did a great job doing so.  I told her thank you and that she needed to wash her hands.  “No, I already washed,” she said.  I told her the reason why she needed to wash again, so she did. She’s such as sweet little girl.

So sweet!  This morning she walked into her classroom and went straight to a friend and began fixing her cape for her.  She is our little caretaker...which I wouldn't think is common for a "baby" 3rd child, seems like instead they'd be used to others taking care of them! haha

We had our first parent-teacher conference with Molly's teachers and I am so proud of our girl.  She meets all milestones of development and learning, of course, but the teachers' comments are what warm my heart.  "Molly is the one everyone wants to be friends with.  And she is friends with everyone!  She's a caring friend."  "Molly is so adaptive, she can play with the boys and get dirty outside, and come in and dance with a princess dress on.  She can play with anyone and anything."  "Molly is a joy."  There were absolutely no concerns for our girl.  They commented that there are times when she's "had it" and starts to lose her temper---and they said, "But don't we all?"  They expressed that she is able to let her friends know when she needs her space, and stands her ground, in an appropriate way.  She uses her words.  They said she is very in control of herself, listens to corrections, follows directions, etc.  I am constantly wanting to pinch myself with the "perfection" of this child.  That may not be the right way to say it, but I am daily in awe of how (in my opinion) she listens, she expresses herself, she follows directions, she is very mature for her age.  I can count the number of tantrums she's had in her whole life on one hand.  I read these funny articles about the difficulty of 2 and 3 year olds, and think, "Wow, Molly does not do any of these difficult toddler things."  And then I wonder if I just have this jaded view of my baby.  And maybe I do, but it is nice for her teachers to express the same thing.  Don't get me wrong- of course she is not perfect, and I am quite worried about the teenage years since her toddler years are seeming so easy, but we are definitely enjoying our smart, happy, and sometimes particular 3 year old!  And again third time around, WE LOVE OUR SCHOOL!

Molly is particularly besties with a boy named Jonah in her class.  We didn't notice this until Jonah's dad pointed it out, but if you look closely at this picture, you will see Molly and Jonah holding hands in this class photo that her teachers sent home:

Yesterday randomly in the car, Molly said, "Mommy, I need to teach Lola to say I love you.  And I think it's time for me to teach her to do a happy somersault."  She loves her cousins and I love that they have each other!!

One cold Sunday, this is how Molly got dressed to go to the store.  I joked that I guess we would go to Wal-Mart instead of Target, dressed like this!

A couple weeks ago Nora and Molly had their first cousin sleepover.  They went to church together and then to Chuck E Cheese.

Last weekend, we took Molly on her first train ride. Once we got to downtown Fort Worth, we rode Molly the Trolly to Sundance Square.  We ate, then visited the water gardens.  We had fun!
