Kickball! and some baseball too

Shelby is playing Kickball this season and is enjoying it.  We luckily got on a team with one of her church friends and the coach’s daughter goes to Shelby’s school.  We also know the other coach because their son was on Jeff/Coleman’s baseball team last season.  The world gets smaller and smaller the longer you live in one place, especially when you start having kids!

Anyway, Jeff has taken some great pics of our girl out on the field.

Molly keeps me busy on the sidelines.  Having a baby learning to walk and not wanting to be held EVER is quite a challenge when we’re at ballgames and practices so much!

(She was safe!)

Coleman has also been playing baseball, but I have yet to take a picture at a game.  Jeff is an assistant coach and pitches during the game, so I don’t have any extra hands with Molly Monkey.  He has one game left so I hope to get some taken!

I just looked on my phone and I do have a couple of pictures.  He played catcher at the beginning of the season.  He didn’t like it, so now he doesn’t wear his cup so he “can’t” play it...

We also took a team pic one night.  Mine is the cutie on the right (top and bottom!)

Molly 10 months

This little punkin is getting so big!

DSC_2898

This month Molly has changed and learned so much.  She is getting some hair, especially in the back, but it is pretty light.

She now has 4 teeth.  Don’t ask me when each of them came in.  Sorry, 3rd baby.  She started taking 2-3 steps sometime during October.  Don’t ask me the day.  Then one day she just exploded and was taking 6, 7, 8 steps on her own (especially walking toward her big sissy.)  That date was October 16 and I know that because I posted it on facebook. Smile  Since then (1 week), she is not walking full time but is getting more and more brave and letting go more often.

Being tall, I find her with things she grabbed off of cabinets or countertops.  Yesterday it was a pine cone from my entry table, and she was halfway up the stairs with it.  (Can you tell she’s wearing me out?!) Smile

She has a personality that is starting to come out.  As far as I can tell, she is opinionated and probably stubborn.  She is used to getting what she wants exactly when she wants it (thanks to having Mommy, Daddy, and an adoring big sis and big bro at her beck and call at all time.  Oh and a caregiver who ONLY keeps Molly all day…no other kids or babies!)  She likes to yell “Num Num” when she’s eating in her high chair.  She knows what “Nummies” means (nursing) and gets very impatient and excited (like saying “Walk” to a dog) when I say it.  She says Mama, Dada, Bubba, Dah (Dog), BuhBye, and NighNigh (night night) all with intention.  She still loves her schedule and will only sleep in her crib.  Oh, and she’d prefer to be in that crib by 7:30 every night, thank you very much.  A little difficult with school and sport functions sometimes!  She loves kisses and hugs but doesn’t like to be cuddled/hugged when she’s sleepy.  She laughs often and smiles all the time.  She’s a very happy baby who NEVER cries unless she hurts herself or is sleepy and is not in her bed.  Pretty simple!

She can do patty cake (clapping and roll ‘em up) by herself.  She loves when people sing to her. (fun songs, not lullabies)  She was not a fan of the bike trailer so we got one where she can sit up in front of me and she loves it.  She has fallen asleep in it twice on bike rides.

Shelby and her friends are good about playing with her.

Photo: The girls made a "playscape" room for Molly. Fun if I don't think about the mess!

Shelby is an especially good help in watching her, which I realized during the 2 days when Shelby had strep throat and I couldn’t ask her to go watch Molly for a minute!

Coleman loves to play with her too, but he enjoys wrestling her down to the ground, and gets easily distracted (then she ends up halfway up the stairs)  But he just adores her.

Here’s a little bowhead on the day her COUSIN Nora was born!  She was very glad at the news of a best chica being born!

She is still nursing and eating everything that we eat.  In just 2 short months she will turn 1 year old and we will get to celebrate her, meet Nora, and have Christmas.  We have a wonderful couple of months coming up and I can’t wait to spend them with my family!!  Sweet Molly…we can’t imagine life without her!

Sleepy punkinhead

She's worn out from Bubby's late game. Sweet monkey!!

Playin

Molly 9 Months

So Molly Monkey has been 9 months for a week or so.  What is she up to?

She is cruising around furniture.  She will stand by herself, and even lower herself like a squat to sitting without falling.  She is walking all around while holding onto things and people.  She has let go a couple of times to step toward me or something, but nothing to count as a first step yet.  She is of course still crawling around too…still with her left knee and her right foot as she has done from the beginning.  But she definitely prefers to be standing up (or held!)

She loves to go straight to the doggie water bowl.  She loves to laugh at her brother.  She loves to go into her big sissy’s room and stare at the lava lamp.  She smiles and yells and laughs when it changes color.  Shelby discovered her little obsession with this.

She waves “Bye Bye” and says “Bye Bye Bye Bye Bye".  She waves and says “Hi.”  Sounds more like “Haaaaa.”  She has said “papapa” when she sees Poppy and “nananana” for Nonnie.  She says Mama and Dada and says Nuh Nuh when she wants to Nurse (I say “Nummies”)  She says Nah Nah at Night Night while she waves and kisses everyone.  She loves her Ellie lovey, which she shoves in her mouth and chews on.  She even holds it in her mouth when she sleeps.  Just this morning she blew me kisses bye bye on her own.  Ms. Theresa was so excited she screamed and scared us both! Smile When she is picked up sometimes she starts patting your shoulder.  She does this to Ms. Theresa when I hand her over in the morning and it’s so cute!  She LOVES when we sing with/to her.  She smiles and laughs with Patty Cake too.

She is eating 3 meals a day and has had almost anything you can think of.  Except honey and peanuts.  She loves eating and eats pretty big servings…more than I would expect.  I don’t know if it’s the baby led weaning thing or just Molly, but she is a pretty clean eater now.  She can put down a full meal without getting it all over her or all over the floor.  She is a big girl who sits in her own high chair at restaurants:

This is about the extent of pictures I have taken this month! Sad smileI have misplaced my “normal” camera lens and all I have is the zoom lens, which isn’t really good for using around the house.

She smiles when we knock on the door at Ms. Theresa’s, and is on a great schedule there with breakfast, lunch, 2 naps and a bottle when she’s there.  This baby really thrives on a schedule.  When she gets up in the morning, she might hang out for a while but then she nurses and then she starts waving bye bye because this is normally when I will leave t0 take her to Ms. Theresa’s.  She likes an evening nap in her crib (which isn’t ever very convenient or possible with big bro and sis school and sporting events.)  She’s pretty good when we have to vary from her schedule these days.

At the doctor yesterday she weighed in at 19 pounds 10 ounces, and was 29 3/4 inches long!  That in96% for length and 55% for weight.  It fits right onto the curve of her growth charts that she’s been on since the beginning.  She received just 2 shots yesterday and let out one little cry without tears, and that was it.  Such a big big girl!  She also got her finger pricked to collect blood for an anemia test, and just sat there and watched and smiled while the nurse squeezed blood from her finger.

Molly is such a good baby.  She is smart and loves her family.  We love her so much!
