I go peepee in the potty!

Today is the 2nd day that Shelby has pee'd in the potty! Of course, both times were after she sat there for almost an hour (she was happy the whole time.) And yesterday after she went we let her put on her elmo panties. Which she pee'd in. So then we put on a diaper but she wanted her Zoey panties so we let her put them on. She pooped in them. Then it was diaper time for the rest of the night. :) This potty training thing---I have no idea how long it will take but I hope that it will just suddenly CLICK for her and it will be easy for all of us. And I hope it will happen this summer. I'm sick of changing person-sized poops. Baby diapers, ok. 2 yr old diapers, Yuck!
We had fresh corn for dinner last night. It was so yummy!

And here's a cute family picture from Chuck E Cheese last Friday night:

Our baby boy has changed SO much in the past week! He is completely rolling over, turning 180 degrees in a circle on the floor, and he's found his voice! He loves to "talk" to me and he is so smiley!

We found a picture of Tyler when he was a newborn and Coleman looks just like him! Pretty cool that some of my genes may have gotten into one child (since everyone still says that Shelby looks "JUST LIKE" her daddy.)
Tyler graduated Valedictorian this weekend and I am so proud of him! He had a great short & sweet speech and he did awesome.

Fluff

I feel like all I write on here is fluff. Someday maybe I'll have the chance to sit down and really write about something. Maybe I'll be able to put into words how much I love my husband. And how much I adore my children. Someday I will write about the things I think about when it's quiet, and how much I worry about our world and what it's going to be like for our kids. Someday I will be able to delve deeper than what we did yesterday, or the plans for tomorrow. Someday maybe I can unscramble my always-going mind and write something important. Until then, even the fluff helps me to organize some thoughts and relax for a bit on the days that I write it. And, there's always pictures! That's more than fluff!
My kids are gorgeous and I LOVE seeing how much they love each other. It's only gonna get better, but already Shelby cannot help but smile in her brother's presence. She is always SO Happy to see him. And he has started really grinning at her, too. She talks to him in the car and holds his hand. She has the sweetest little "Coleman voice" that she uses to talk to him. She calls him Buddy and Bruddah and Buster and Little man. She brushes his cheeks like she's seen Mommy do and she hugs him and kisses him over and over. It makes my heart melt and I am so lucky that I get to have a front row seat to this little love story between sister and brother, watching them get to know each other and fall in love. I hope they always know how lucky they are to have each other and I hope they will be best friends forever.

Stupid storm!

What a HORRIBLE night it was! I was in bed before midnight (which is pretty good these days!) and was looking forward to my 6 hrs of sleep. It started storming sometime before 2am and I didn't really sleep much again until after 4. Rusty was just scream barking at the thunder. Even though he is in the laundry room (which doesn't have a door on it but is in another part of the house) I could hear him loud and clear--enough that it woke me up several times. I kept making Jeff go shut him up because the LAST thing I wanted was for him to wake Shelby or Coleman up. Luckily Coleman slept right through it all. In fact, he slept from 9pm - 6am without a peep. Shelby woke a couple of times, probably thanks to the thunder/major rain storm and Rusty barking at it.
Finally, I told Jeff to let Russ come sleep with us. It's the ONLY thing that will shut him up in a storm. I cannot stand having dogs in my bed under my covers, but lucky for him the cleaning ladies are coming today so an exception was made since my sheets are being changed. Once we let him crawl way way down by our feet, he slept the rest of the night and so did we. Except when we got up to check out the hail that was falling and I tried getting on the i-net to check for tornado warnings. None of the local news sites would pull up at 3am. ??? Great source. Not.
The moral of the story is that I'm sleepy and have a headache!!! But at least we didn't lose any power, like everyone else has been going through. Lots of traffic lights were out on my way to work but we didn't even lose power for a second. Maybe we got lucky and bought a house in a neighborhood w/ reliable electric lines! :)

All in a day's work

This is a typical day for me/us. This was yesterday:

3:30 leave work
3:40 pick up Shelby and rush home to feed a hungry Coleman. If I don't make it there before he gets unconsolably hungry, then he will be fed a bottle and I will have to figure out how to care for him and watch Shelby while I am tied to a chair with a pump attached to each breast.
3:50 Feed Coleman while trying to convince Shelby to stay in the same room that I am in so I can supervise what she's doing.
4:00 Still feeding Coleman--Shelby brings me books to read so I use my free hand to hold the books while we read them.
4:30 Shelby is already rummaging through the pantry so I give her a banana to try to tide her over until dinner.
Coleman is actually happy sitting in his bouncer for once so I put on Baby Einstein, wondering if he'll watch it.
4:35 Take out chicken breasts to defrost in the microwave and marinate for Jeff to grill.
4:45 Shelby's still hungry and searching for cookies so I give in and fix her a couple of frozen waffles for dinner.
5:00 Baby Einstein is over and Coleman watched the whole thing! Now he wants to be held again.
5:10 Jeff gets home and starts the grill.
5:15 Shelby wants to play with playdough so we set up the table and supplies for her to do so while I hold Coleman and make some rice and steam some veggies.
5:30 Phone rings- Babysitter wants to chat for a few minutes while Shelby and Jeff are playing with Playdoh in the middle of the kitchen floor as I am trying to clear off the table for dinner and the rice is boiling over. Thank goodness Jeff picks up the baby while he goes out to turn the chicken.
5:45 Dinner is ready but I'm on the phone with Mom. Coleman is sitting in his bouncy again and Shelby is watching Elmo. Jeff is trying to get me to get off the phone to eat while it's hot but I am talking to Mom about something important, so I take bites in between talking.
6:00 Done eating but plates are left on the table b/c Shelby has gotten bored with Elmo and wants to go outside (in the thunderstorm) so she is demanding that we put her shoes on, and Coleman needs to be fed again.
6:05 Jeff and I have a little argument b/c I don't think he should take her out in the thunderstorm but he's in charge of her b/c I am stuck on the couch feeding Coleman.
6:10 Jeff, Shelby and the dogs go outside and I get annoyed b/c the dogs won't stop barking at the thunder.
6:15 They come back in b/c I was right and the public warning signs are going off. I'm trying to watch last night's American Idol since there's not much else I can do while feeding Coleman.
6:20 Coleman is fed so Jeff takes him while Shelby and I work a puzzle and Jeff is on the phone with his mom. Shelby does not want me to help with the puzzle so I run into the kitchen to rinse off the dinner dishes. Shelby gets bored with the puzzle and good thing I'm in the kitchen to catch her trying to crawl out the doggy door.
6:30 Coleman is fussy and Jeff can't hear his mom so I take him and change his poopy diaper and put his pjs on. I wonder if Shelby's diaper has been changed since we got home.
7:00 Jeff gives Shelby a bath while I finish Idol and hold Coleman. He's surprisingly happy and non-fussy tonight!
7:15 Shelby is clean. I start a load of laundry so Shelby will have a shirt to wear tomorrow and Jeff tries to put Coleman to bed.
7:30 Shelby wants to watch Elmo again and I let her since she didn't really watch it the first time. She crawls up into our bed to watch it, and I go in to help get Coleman to sleep.
8:00 I was able to straighten up a little bit while Shelby watched Elmo and now I try to prepare her for bedtime, but she's hungry again.
She gets some raisins and wants to go kiss brother.
8:05 Coleman wakes up b/c Shelby insisted on going in to kiss him but ran into the door on her way out and started wailing. So Jeff soothes him and I pick Shelby up and kiss her booboo and get her some water. She thows a fit b/c she wants milk but we are out of milk. A sleepy 2 yr old doesn't understand that for some reason.
8:30 Coleman is back asleep and Jeff goes to put Shelby to bed. I load the dishwasher with bottles and pump parts so I don't have to wash them by hand tonight.
9:00 Clothes in the dryer must be folded and wet clothes transferred to the dryer.
10:00 I don't know where the last hour went- I think somewhere in there I was finally getting myself into my non-work clothes and plucking my eyebrows. I walk into the living room to find Borat on the tv ready to hit play. We must watch this tonight b/c it is due tomorrow!
10:05 I have to get tomorrow's bottles prepared and straighten up a little before starting the movie b/c Jeff's mom is coming over in the morning to watch Coleman.
10:20 Jeff has been wandering around doing who knows what for the past 15 minutes and when I finally finish the dishes and come into the living room w/ arms full of clothes to fold and say,"Ok it's late, we better start the movie" he says, "Well it's been ready to start for 15 minutes!" He gets a got to hell look.
10:25 We start the movie but pause immediately b/c Coleman is awake again.
10:30 Movie is back on again and I am feeding Coleman while we watch.
11:00 Pause again! Put Coleman back to bed.
12:15 Movie's over...Crawl into bed knowing I only have less than 6 hrs to sleep and just laugh to myself when Jeff wants to cuddle. Sorry dude but I'm ASLEEP. :)
4:00 Wake up and realize that Coleman didn't wake up yet for his nightly feeding. Go in to make sure he's breathing and check on Shelby.
4:30 Shelby is crying so I go in to put her back to bed.
5:55 I hear "Hi Mommy! Wake up!" and turn my alarm off b/c it was supposed to go off in 5 minutes anyway.
6:00 Shelby is in bed with us but won't stop saying "Wake up!" So I get up and throw some clothes on.
6:15 I beg Jeff to get out of bed b/c I have to leave in 30 min and he has to take his shower before I leave.
6:20 I get Shelby ready while Jeff gets himself ready. Coleman is STILL sleeping! Woohoo!
6:45 It's time for me to leave but Coleman is just waking up. I have to fix him a bottle before I leave b/c I don't have time to feed him myself.
6:50 I leave for work and run by Chick Fil A because I am starving.
7:00 finally at work where I can relax! :) I rush in to close my door and pump b/c I haven't done so since 10:00 last night and I am in MAJOR pain.
8:00 Email is caught up on, I pumped 15 oz out of those bbs, and I'm ready to start my work day. I have a small meeting and am a little embarassed b/c I realize that I didn't have time to put any makeup on (which I usually do at stop lights while driving to work but this morning I was eating Chicken Minis instead) but that's ok.
8-3:30 The easiest part of my day! I get to run to the store to get milk and bananas during my 30 minute lunch break! woohoo.
3:30 Rush out of work because I miss my family and I can't WAIT to see my sweet babies' faces and start it all again.
