Everything we've had to set up at the new house just doesn't work out as it should.
1. The DISH people said the cable running through the house couldn't handle the dish signal, so they had to run new cable, but couldn't drill through the wall, so our cable is going through our window. NICE!
2. Somehow our DISH bill is going from $55 a month to $89. We added HD but that's only supposed to be $20.
3. The carpet guy didn't order enough carpet (5 feet short) so we had to order more and have the installers come out AGAIN (with a $150 minimum charge just to have them install ONE more room of carpet).
4. The carpet installers are there now and start installing new carpet on the old pad. They didn't order/bring additional pad! So now we're going to have to pay for them to drive back to the carpet place and pick it up.
5. The rat thing.
6. My face has been so clear throughout the pregnancy and since Cole was born. It decides to break out this week, since we are having pictures done on Sunday, of course.
7. Cole's daycare chooses to tell me on the DAY HE STARTS going there that they are cancelling their infant care program. Sorry, lady, you have 4 wks to find different care for your baby. :( It is so hard to find good infant care! And of course, they give us until April 15th. If they would only give another month, which would give us until teachers and college students are out for summer, that would've helped SO much!
I'm sure I'll think of more to add to this list!!

Our house
This is what we have left to do in our house:
Looks easy, huh? :)~ NOT.
Today Jeff has his flex day off, and the carpet is getting put into Cole's room so we can FINALLY set his room up!! I'm so excited...it's getting done TONIGHT.
An insulation guy is also coming to put down insulation in our attic.
Right now I'm on the phone with Jeff and he thinks there's rats in our attic!!! OMG. He's telling me his plan to take care of them. Whatever---just TAKE CARE OF IT! Before I see or hear them at ALL.
The joys of owning a USED home.
We did a little family photo shoot last night. It's our own family portrait. Too bad I didn't realize Shelby didn't have a shirt on...oops!

I did catch a real smile of Cole, too. CUTIE!!!

Pictures
We have been so bad about getting the camera out and taking pictures lately, but I got a couple of great pictures yesterday and this morning!
Cole was a smiling baby when getting home from the daycare yesterday. I tried to get one of his big smiles on camera but this is all I could get:
Shelby was a happy girl this morning. She is crouching because I crouched down to take the picture and she likes to do what mommy does! (And you can see we rescued Bobby from school!)
And here is Daddy and Daddy's girl. She sure does have him smitten with love!
Good baby, smart girl, loving husband!
Coleman was not nearly as fussy last night. He did want to nurse off an on in little spurts basically all evening, but that is fine with me as long as he is not crying. We put him in a onesie instead of footed pj's and he seemed much more comfortable, so maybe being hot is one thing that contributed to the mess the night before.
Shelby has become quite the picky eater lately. She goes through phases with food and I'm sure this one will be over soon, but she refuses to eat dinner. She wants to snack from the time we get home (4:30pm) until bedtime. She keeps pulling me into the pantry saying, "Come on" as she grabs my hand (it's so cute!) I have made a huge "snack box" full of all the individually wrapped snacks we buy (granola bars, animal crackers, trail mix, fig newtons, crackers, etc) and I let her choose one thing from it when it's snack time. We do this as soon as we get home from work/school but the problem is she keeps wanting to go back, and will not eat "meal" food. Last night her dinner consisted of fish sticks, macaroni and corn (she threw the whole plate on the floor) and then fruit salad...she ate 3 bowls of it! At least it is something healthy b/c I refuse to let her have cookies/crackers for dinner!
Now I just have to take a moment to say how dang smart our little girl is. We are amazed every day! She knows so many things and has such a great vocabulary. Last night we were reading a book and she pointed at an astronaut and said, "Ass-ro-naut" -- I know I'm biased but I think 3-syllable words pronounced pretty close to perfectly is quite amazing for a 23-month old! :)
Jeff stayed up a little later than me last night and did some nice work on the house. He emptied all the boxes in the kids bathroom and then even bleached the bathtub and countertops in there - 1 more room down! :) He also cleaned the kitchen countertops and the kitchen table, and helped minimize the clutter all over the house. I love my husband! (And not just because he helps around the house so much, but it is a great bonus!) :)

Silly froggy!!
Yesterday I decided to search on the internet to find out what to feed our new "cute" frog. First I had to find out what kind it was, since walmart just called it an "albino frog." Come to find out, it is an African Clawed Frog. These frogs are illegal in some states! They become the size of your hand, and will eat any other fish and/or frogs that you put into a tank with it. I hope those poor helpless little neon fish can stay safe until we can get that froggy out of the tank and return him tonight!! How dumb are we, to just purchase a frog, not knowing what it is, what it does, what it eats - and just take it home like it's a little toy?? Now we're going to have to find "a non-mutant killer African frog-on-steroids replacement" (as Jeff says) since Shelby loves her froggy. Last night she said, "Night night foggy" before drifting off to frog-filled dreamland.
Is it Friday yet?
No, it's only Tuesday! Tuesday morning!
Last night was very frustrating for Jeff and me. Coleman has been quite a fussy (colicky???) baby, but last night was the worst yet. It was 8:45 and he had been bathed, fed, changed, and had been awake for a couple of hours. I thought it was our night to get him to sleep at a reasonable time and get some more boxes unpacked, or just get some extra sleep ourselves. Well, Cole thought differently. He got fussy and then more fussy, and in no time was just screaming. For 2 hours. We tried holding him every way we know how. We tried feeding him more, swaddling him, unswaddling him, laying him down, picking him up, paci, this other paci, no paci. Nothing worked. His little body was so stiff that we couldn't make him bend, and his hands stay in tight fists. Not knowing if it might be pain from his ear infection, gas, or something else, we gave him Tylenol and Mylicon. He still cried for about 30 minutes after that. Finally, after I laid down from a massive headache and Jeff took him into the dark, quiet, cool living room, he gave in and Jeff was able to lie him down and he stayed asleep. After that (10:45) he slept for 7 hours straight. His longest sleep yet! (Which is not surprising since I'm sure he was worn out after that fit.)
It is so hard to stay calm while your baby is so unconsolable. It's not that the crying bothers us, it's just that we don't know what is making him so unhappy. Is he in pain? Are we doing something wrong? Those are just the questions every loving parent asks him/herself a million times, I'm sure. I guess we can't always "Fix" whatever is wrong with our children, but we can keep trying and eventually, it will all be okay. Eventually the crying will stop. I just need to remember that! :)

My first blog
Well, I decided to try this blogging thing---finally! I mean, it is 2007 and I am kind of a computer geek.
I figure this is something I can do in my spare time without getting the scissors, glue and scrapbooks out - but still document some things about my beautiful family. I don't want to forget the things that Shelby says DAILY that make our hearts smile...and she is funny sometimes, too! And Coleman is becoming such a sweet baby with his smiles and coos- I want to remember every second of it.
We had a wonderful Sunday yesterday. Jeff was home with us (his one weekend day off) and we continued trying to get some boxes unpacked... A slow process since we are constantly feeding or bouncing our fussy Coleman (who particulary did NOT want to be put down yesterday,) and reading book after repetitive book to Shelby. She loves books! Mommy and Daddy wish we had even more than the 100 that we have because we have read them all so many times!
After some begging from my 3rd child (Jeff,) we bought some fish and an albino frog for our fish tank yesterday. The fish tank had to be emptied for the move, and Jeff was ready to get it going again. He was so excited about the 4 neons (of which we can only find 3 after transferring into the tank) and the little froggy. Shelby loves the frog, too. She says, "Hi froggy!" Jeff got the fish tank set up in Shelby's room on her window seat after she went to bed last night. When she got up and got in bed with me in the middle of the night, she must have first noticed the tank (hmmm, maybe that's where the 4th fish went?!?!) because we found the tank light on this morning. :) Only the fish know what went on in there last night.
Shelby did not have a great day yesterday because she was missing Bobby a lot. We have 2 Bobby's and cannot find the second one. One was left at her school over the weekend and the other one is missing. Poor Shelby was so sad crying, "Bobby, I want him!" I just wanted to pull the dog out of thin air and give it to her---It was like a little 2-yr-old broken heart. If they sold him ANYWHERE you can bet I would've been there yesterday buying another one, but of course the thing we let our daughter get attached to is no longer made or sold at all. I only found the back-up one on eBay, and I'm glad I did! Maybe I can find more on there, I haven't checked lately! :)
Well, that's enough for now. I don't know if I'll share this blog with anyone at all, or just keep it to myself. We'll see. There probably aren't many who have time or desire to read all this---but it is important stuff to me, and Jeff. It's our world and our family, which is the most important thing to us both.
