Love Day

So many people go on about how Valentine’s day is just another day- a “Hallmark holiday” - why only show love on one day of the year?  blah, blah, blah.
To me, V Day is a day to celebrate love.  Yes, love is a way of life, that should be shown year-round.  But Valentine’s Day is a fun day to emphasize and celebrate that love that you have in your life.  It’s a fun day for the kids and a good excuse (for people who need one) to go that extra mile for your sweetheart.  I’m not a huge Valentine freak, but I’m not a cynic either.  It’s just a fun day to hopefully spend with your loved ones and make sure they know just how much you love them.  AND, there’s candy and chocolate!  Duh!

Last week, Shelby’s class had another “Parent Partner Day” to decorate their valentine boxes.  (They also did this for pumpkins at Halloween and Ginger Bread Houses at Christmas!)

Shelby decided she wanted to use a bunch of scrapbook stuff that she got for Christmas to make a Hello Kitty–themed box.  We also had a bunch of cool Shelby stickers from Aunt Jana!  We did pretty good for scrapping up a bunch of stuff the night before to take to decorate with!

When the bell rang, Shelby showed me some of her work about American Heroes hanging in the hallway.

This poster is about Susan B. Anthony, Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, Jr, and Neil Armstrong.

My Valentines day started out with a hand-drawn card from my sweetie (Daddy) and a clean house!  I went to bed around 10:00 the night before and I am pretty sure I heard Daddy falling into bed around 1:30.  When I woke up, there was coffee waiting for me and Daddy’s busy night (which he does often) made me feel so great!  A clean house does a happy mama make.  Winking smile

After work I headed to Coleman’s school for their little valentine party.  Because he is our second child, I didn’t think to bring my camera. Smile  But I did get a few little shots with our old camera that was in my purse.  He was in quite a feisty mood yesterday.

Thank you Poppy for picking up Shelby at school so I could attend Buddy’s party!

At home, we had a couple of hours to play then Daddy came home with some sweet treats.  After dinner, we played the kids Valentine gift, Disney Cranium!

I hope EVERYONE felt LOVE all around them yesterday!  Happy love day!
